Nicely done. In the years since you wrot...Grant ... Nicely done. In the years since you wrote this, I think conditions have improved, at least in the more up-to-date labs, as far as air circulation is concerned. I'm a bit surprised by the "Gerty" sign and the face-down cadaver. Our anatomy lab at Upstate Medical University wouldn't tolerate that. There's an atmosphere of respect. When we do photo shoots of our students there, we are very careful to avoid showing any body parts. Every year our med students host a memorial service for those who have donated. It's held in Hendricks Chapel at SU, because the crowd of family members is so large (more than 250 donors, usually). I admire your journalistic curiosity in going into the lab. It is a spiritual experience, as well as clinically fascinating. I've seen many of our cadavers, but have not taken part to the extent you did.
