I do not know "industrial" eggs from big fams available in shops, but I know, that washing "bio" eggs is forbiden in many countries here in Europe. Tables in kitchen must be also separated for eggs.
Within the EU there is a fear of washing eggs mainly because it can damage the cuticle, which protects the eggs from dehydration and creates a natural barrier against microorganisms present in the normal flora.
Hmmm.....my best thought is....they're authentic? I am glad, however, that our organic egg supplier cleans our eggs up nicely.
