Waiting For A Sign
I love cool signs, especially if they're written in cool fonts. Here are a couple more to add to my Gusto collection (just search fonts, if you're into that sort of thing). I found these up at Barrandov Studios in Prague.
I like the hip Soviet-looking 1960s graphics in the No Smoking sign above. The sign below basically asks for quiet, as filming is going on.

Fascinated By Fonts

I've always been fascinated by fonts. And living here in the Czech Republic, I often come across store names and various other types of signage still in their original fonts dating from the communist era. I've sporadically taken photos of these signs and will try to post many of them here.
I was reminded of my obsession when I went to an audition yesterday in the OKD Vltavska building near the Vltavska metro in Prague 7. I found these incredibly cool numbers on lobby signage indicating which office was on which floor. I love them.

Cool Fonts, Continued

Above a disused door in the Želivského metro station in Prague.
Part of my continuing series on preserving some cool old fonts I come across in Prague, and elsewhere...

A change machine at Blackwater Falls Lodge in Davis, West Virginia. Echoes of the old Tab soda cans, no?

Country Of Cool Fonts

I've always loved typography and design.
Prague is full of old signs in wonderfully weird fonts. Many of them date back to the communist days. Like this sign for a potraviny, or grocery store, in the Prague 6 neighborhood.
You'd think it would have been removed ages ago and replaced with some modern-day signage. Which would have been a shame, really.
I'll try to keep my camera handy and record some other cool fonts I come across in my wanderings. They must be preserved.
